Paola Velardi

is a Full Professor of Computer Science at Sapienza University in Rome, Italy. Her main interests are in the areas of natural language processing, social networks, machine learning, ontology learning and the semantic web. Main recent application areas are in the domain of recommender systems, e-health and entersprise social networks. She published more than 150 papers on international journals, books and conferences, among which several top rated journals such as Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, Knowledge Bases Systems, IEEE Transactions (TDKE, PAMI, TOC, TSE), Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, Journal of Web Semantics, etc. She has more than 5500 citations on Google Scholar (GS h-index 36). She has been unit PI and PI of many national, regional and international projects. She received several awards and recognitions among which: (2017) "100esperte.it" (translated from Italian with "100 female experts"), "100esperte.it" (translated from Italian with "100 female experts"); (2017) IBM Faculty Award for her research on semantic recommender systems; (2018) "Inspiring 50 Italy" the list of the 50 most influential Italian women in science and technology, by Inspiring Fifty, a non-profit that aims to increase diversity in STEM by making female role models in tech more visible; (2019) Standout Women Award, for her research curriculum and achievements.
